Eggs laid by same chicken or 2 different ones?

I have pullets that are just starting to lay and recently I've gotten these olive eggs. A few have been a more bright olive and a few have had a heavier bloom. If a chicken lays an egg with a heavy bloom does that stay consistent or can it go back and forth like this? I thought they were coming from the same one but I'm wondering if they're actually from 2 different pullets. I've not had one of each on the same day.

Sometimes the first egg of an olive egger can look like the one on the left because of heavy bloom and later look like the one on the right. If you got two on the same day the eggs are likely from 2 chickens.

Thank you! It's gone back and forth between the 2 but if I get both on the same day I'll know for sure!

Same size, same shape. Not laid on the same day.

When pullets first start to lay you can get interesting differences. It is hard to say if those eggs come from the same pullet. Usually they stabilize in a week or two so I'd withhold judgment for a few more days.

Isn't it fun when they first start to lay?

Thank you! Yes it is fun and learning more about the variances in eggs as well. I thought I had heard that the color of the egg doesn't vary per chicken but then read that the color can vary but the shape typically doesn't? I'm still not sure but either way I'm enjoying collecting them!

The base color cannot change. That is determined by genetics. Typically, once they get regular the shade is usually pretty consistent. But things can happen during egg-laying so the shade can vary. Similarly with the egg shape. A hen will typically lay a certain shape, but things can happen where you get a variance.

A pullet typically starts out laying a fairly small egg but the longer she lays the larger the egg gets. You will probably notice a difference in size between these eggs and the size you will get in a month. Again, you may notice significant differences from one day to the next. But after they get over the start-up challenges these things typically become pretty consistent.

Many of us with smaller flocks can tell which hen laid which egg just by looking at the egg for some of them. But every once in a while one can have a glitch that makes that day's egg different. It is just part of dealing with living animals.

It's all so interesting. I'm not sure if I'll ever have all of mine figured out because I have at least 6 that lay brown and possibly more. But there is a few that i have narrowed down and I'm excited to see what my remaining pullets are going to give me.
