Well this morning 5 eggs have pipped. None of the ones that were rolling though... 10 more chances to go!

QUESTION: The inner membranes seems really thick and are pretty much white. Is this bad?

Just let them do their thing, don't get too worried! They have some complex turning to do in the shell to get ready to hatch, along with absorbing their yolk. They've probably pipped internally, or are preparing to. Don't open the incubator so humidity doesn't drop (shrinkwrapped chicks are not good!). I'd suggest finding something to keep you busy, since even when they do pip, it can take a while for them to zip and pop out too.

They're probably just repositioning themselves to get ready to hatch. Yesterday I had five rocking around in the afternoon, still haven't pipped. One is peeping like crazy and they're still rocking a little, so I'm hoping by tomorrow they'll be hatched. Good luck and I hope your hatch is successful!

Thanks for the re-assurance, everyone. Like I said, we have lots of experience with baby chicks, just not the incubator and how it works. Last year we had a hen hatch 2 eggs and then abandon the nest right away. We took the eggs and put them in a box in the oven with the light on with a wet towel on them. 1 actually hatched! I'm anxious to see what these ones come out like because we have more variety this year.

I put a couple wet socks in with this batch and pump up the humidity. I'm entertaining myself with the gardens now and repeating my new mantra "let them do their thing"

So, NOTHING stil this morning. No moving, no pipping, no anything! What should I do?

You should do the one thing that is the hardest. Wait! In a perfect world it's 21 days. With all the variables it may take less it may take longer. Try your best to be patient even though it's hard to do.

When mine start moving and piping, I go to the bator and talk , sing, bahk, bahk, bahk, and peep at them. Seems to get some of them moving again. Good luck
