eggs not fertile

My silkie hen has been broody twice now but each time they are not fertilized eggs. She lives with a rooster. Just the two of them Why aren't the eggs fertile?

My silkie hen has been broody twice but to no avail. I wait up to 25 days but nothing. She and one showgirl rooster live together. They free range and go in their coup at night

How are you verifying that they are not fertilized? Lack of development? Have you cracked some open to check for bullseyes?

wait up to 25 days. Open the eggs. My silkie hen was on them the whole time except for a few minutes each day. This is the second time this has happened

I'm saying have you seen a bullseye in the yolk to confirm if they are fertilized?

Have you witnessed them mating?

The problem could be they are not getting fertilized, or they are getting fertilized and not developing. You have to figure out which it is. If its the first thing, one could be sterile or he just doesn't know how to hit the mark, or his or her butt is too fluffy for anything to happen. Or he's not actually a rooster but I assume you know that for sure lol.
