I have sandpiper eggs in my incubator and they are starting to move in their shells and one egg is peeping. Do I take the eggs off the egg turner. Thanks

I never hatched them but I am sure you should stop turning then 3 days before their hatch date. So if it is close that date---yes remove the turner and you should increase the humidity. Good Luck

welcome to BYC . Why are you hatching sandpipers ? Yes, the turner should be took out . Do you have the humidity increased ?

Some dirtbikers ran their mom over so I don't know when they were layed I know it take 23 days for them but I will make the humidity go up. Thanks.

I didn't know how far along they were and I would feel bad if they just would die in their egg. So I took them as a bird lover I could let that happen.

I don't know anything about sandpiper eggs but I take the turner out at the end for different reasons. At the end the eggs do not need to be turned. Removing the turner before the mess of hatching makes clean-up easier. My turner has sharp corners that can trap feet, wings, or necks, even if it is turned off.

Have you figured out how you are going to feed and raise the chicks? You might contact a ranger at a park or someone in wildlife management at a university. Hatching them is one thing, keeping them alive and raising them is another.

Good luck!

They are ground nesting birds so like quail they can feed themselves and see as soon as they are born. So I will just give them game bird starter and raise them like quail.
