so i gathered a dozen of my most lovely eggs and entered them into the local fair (i did win first place) so they were in the fridge for two days and then out in the air for three days. do you think these eggs are still viable? i dont want to waste the energy of incubator if they are probably just dead. but i dont want to waste baby chickens either.

does anyone know anything about the handling of eggs effects on incubation?

thanks so much!

What were the tempatures out in the air, were they contolled, or were the eggs outside. It would reduce their hatability so you would have to expect a lower hatch rate, but as long as you didn't have extreme tempature swings, some would most likely hatch. Personally I wouldn't wate my time on these, I would throw them or eat them and hatch the next eggs. Even though they are fertile, the chicks will not develope unless conditions are right, so you wouldn't be killing anything if thats what you are worried about.

ok thanks. i decided to fry them all up and gave them to my dog. she loved it!!

Your welcome, We always give the old, bad, or extra eggs to the dogs, in fact we don't even fry them and they go nuts over them. I was told that eggs give them a shiny coat too. But they must be given in moderation.
