Eggs set on 2/11! Who needs a hatch buddy?

We'll we have one chick out now. He is loudly cheeping and bashing around in the incubator...it is hard not to open it. There are three others which have pipped and two others I have seen rocking around and heard cheeping. I am worried all the same...what about the other 10 which seem to be just sitting there? I read to leave them until day 23 no matter what so that is what I am doing. I guess depending on what is happening in the morning I might remove the chicks which have hatched...assuming more go tonight. Anyone know if they like hatching at night or if they don't care? How is everyone's else's hatch going?

I transitioned my incubator into the hatching mode.
I have been candling them frequently. In 7 of the 9, the chicks have pretty much completely filled the shells, except for the air cell. There were 2 where that was not the case. I assumed they were both dead, so I cracked one, and it looked as if it had quit about halfway through. The other one was bigger, I pulled all of the yolk and membranes away from it and then realized it was trying to breathe. I guess I killed it. I put it in the incubator, but I don;t think it will make it.

Honestly, I don't think it would have made it anyway, it was smaller than it should have been... but it is still upsetting.
Hopefully the others will all survive.

I will cheer you up LOL! I have a baby!!!!!!! Plus more pips. They weren't suppose to hatch until tomorrow, but I have 1 and other pips!

It really doesn't matter they will hatch day or night, but I swear when my start hatching they like the night, cause I had a pip when I went to bed and woke up this morning and had a baby, I so wanted to see it hatch, but I do have other eggs, maybe I'll see some hatch. You are correct sometimes they just take longer. Last hatch I had a couple that I had to leave in, 1 hatched on the 23rd day and the didn't hatch at all.

I just did a quick check of my eggs. One has pipped internally. I coud hear it chirping!
I guess it's a good thing that I'm working tomorrow, or I'd be checking them all every hour or two, I have a hard time not helping them along.

Right LOL! I went to town earlier and was only gone abt 2 and a 1/2 hours and I was so ready to get back and check on them. I was worried that I hadn't turned the a/c where it would come on if it got to hot. Down here in S Ga. it can get warm during the day and I live in a trailer with no trees for shade, so even when it feels nice outside it can still get hot in the house. I got home to 3 more hatched. I now have a total of 11 hatched out of 24 that went into lockdown, and there are still eggs that have piped and not hatched!!!! Watching them anxiously. I even got up at 4 am cause I wanted to check on them and couldn't go back to sleep!

And my new incubator full!!! More babies at the end of the month total of 41 in there!

Congrats on the chicks!
I came home to find that most of mine have pipped internally, I can hear them chirping. One has pipped externally. I'm heading to bed now. I'm hoping to see some chicks in the morning.

3 hatched this morning, 1 chick has pipped.
3 eggs are just sitting there. I did check them and can hear 2 of the 3 pecking away, but they haven't broken through yet. I'm trying to be patient, but not doing a very good job of it.

LOL! It is very hard waiting! It seems like it takes forever! Congrats!!!!!
