I am new to incubating and hatching California Quail eggs. This spring it was evident that the males were amorous and mated with my females. It is now mid-June and the females are still laying an egg here and there. My question is: " HOW LONG IS THE SPRING MATING / FERTILIZING EFFECTIVE? " Are the eggs still viable for incubation? Please help "educate" me with your wisdom.

I have never owned or raised California quail. But since no one else has replied to your post I'll give you my thoughts. Most seasonal birds breed into June and even July. If the hens are laying there probably is some mating occurring too.
