My duck has only just started setting on her eggs. She has a nest hidden in their pen, at night I shut the ducks in with the chickens. My question is, she sat on the nest all day yesterday, but was off the nest when I went out to put the rest in. She went in with them. It was a cold night 36 f. Do you think the eggs will be OK? I could switch them out for fresh eggs. I have been wondering about the eggs because, leading up to actually deciding to set all day she would sit for hours, then leave. How do the eggs do being warmed, then cooled?

I hatch eggs in my classroom. One morning, I came in to find that the power was off to my incubator and had been all night. The eggs which were only about a week into incubation were cold. I plugged my incubator back in not expecting much. Almost every one of those eggs ended up hatching. So, you never know. Candling the eggs is your best way to tell.
