Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site and was hoping someone could help me out. I purchased a Janoel 8-48 incubator. I held on to my eggs for about two weeks and then filled in all 48 spots in the incubator. This was about 12 days ago. I decided to candle them today and found that about 35 of the eggs did not develop at all, 7 are stuck to their shell, and the rest are developing just fine. The temperature and humidity have been excellent. Prior to me purchasing an incubator I made one myself from scratch. I had about a 50% hatch rate with my home made incubator. I was hoping for a higher rate with this one since it is an automatic egg turner (more like an egg tilter).

My concern is why didn't any of these eggs develop. To say they were not fertile is not believable for me. I have a large, very healthy Ameracauna rooster and never had any problems before with eggs not being fertile. Not to mention that my embryos are getting stuck to the shell. If it is an automatic turner then why are they still getting stuck. It is set to tilt them every two hours. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like ur turner isnt working properly. Put a mark on the turner with a marker and check it every two hours ( more often if possible) to see if it has moved. Were there any blood veins visiable withe the candle? With the humidity other thing can be asorbed thru the shell causing the chick to die.. Ive found the longer I hold eggs to put in the bator the less the chanc3 it will be sucessfull. Cos during this time the egg still needs to be turned around three times a day. And the temp during the waiting period will also influence the out come. If u hold eggs for later put them in an egg carton ( point down as u would in the bator) put a thin book or something of thee sort under the carton a shift side to side several times a day. Good luck!!
