i have some hens i got 3 weeks ago and a few of them lay big deformed eggs they only have one small yolk inside and they look like double or triple yokers some are weird shaped. also i was told that they just turned a year old when i got them. they are a sexlink cross rhode island red . someone also told me that hens lay these weird eggs when they are getting to old to lay . is that true. im wondering if i got a bunch of old birds. havent got many eggs from them maybe 4out of the 10 are laying and its been 3 weeks. i feed them layer mash 16%. feeders full 24/7 right now getting 5-9 eggs a day from 24 laying hens i have. before i got the new 10, 1 year old birds i was getting a dozen eggs a day from my 15, original flock of 16 month old layers.
