Eggs touching in the incubator?

Good idea on the cartons, work better in forced air.

Betta, can sent you a few, just pm where to ship to. Free just pay shipping cost.

The other option is to hold some aside...and after 7 days candle and see if any are duds. Replace the "duds" with those held aside. The only problem with this is then you'll have a staggered hatch and will deal with those complications at hatch time....

I haven't got an incubator, so haven't hatched any eggs yet, but I've been reading about the dangers of opening the bator/hatcher when the babies are hatching. It makes the humidity shift too much, doesn't it, which causes problems for babies trying to get out?

So if you're opening the bator to get out babies to make room for others to hatch every few minutes, you're going to cause a lot of problems for yourself. No experience with this, but would this be right?

Hrmm. Well, I'm going to try the cartons, thanks to dear Deerman.

However, for humidity, I think our household humidity is higher than most people. We have about 14 or 15 fish tanks running at all times, lol.
If I had still planned on stacking, maybe I could have also tried to move the incubator to the bathroom and ran the shower to raise humidity? I know you're not supposed to move them, but maybe it would have worked as a last resort, if I would have had to move it after noticing that some had already been hatching out... Just thinking out loud.

You'll want the water in the bator for humidity. In WA, our inside heated humidity can be darn near 80%, but at 100F in the bator, it will drop down to 40% in no time. And unless you plan on having the shower on all day, probably not going to work out so well. A wet sponge in the bator would be easier.

Oh, I realise that the bator needs its own humidity (I plan to use sponges). I was just thinking out loud that if I weren't going to use crates AND the rack, then come hatching time, when I had to actually dig in the bator to pull chicks out, I could use the shower while the bator was open. Wouldn't take more than 5 minutes like that. Believe me, my shower wouldn't be letting off steam all day, I can take a max of 45 minutes in the shower before it's freezing cold.
