Eggs when you have a Roo

Ok I may have a Roo in my group.

I got Chickens just for Eggs.

Now if I do have a Roo, and I dont want the eggs Fertilized, How do i work this

, when i just want eggs to eat.
How fast do i need to get the eggs once they have been laid so they dont start to become a baby chick.

If you collect the eggs daily and put them in the frig you wont have chicks. You can eat fertile eggs they are fine. Or keep your Roo seperate and you wont have fertile eggs

I agree, I have chickens just for eggs and I have roosters too, as long as you collect and refrigerate daily there is no difference taste wise. I use them for my own family and sell the eggs.

I have a customer that swears fertilized eggs taste better...

Do roos have to mate for each egg? Or does one mating fertilize several eggs?

One mating can last a hen about 3 weeks. She can store the sperm. Not sure how a fertilized egg can taste any difference since it's half a cell different... and I guess divided a few times. Just don't keep the eggs for eating stored at 100F and you'll be fine.

You'll never see an embryo in an egg unless it's been incubated, either artificially or under a hen for several days. You'll never know the difference. I have roosters with my flock, the eggs are fertile, and we eat them all the time.
