Not at all - you just didn't know what it was, so you asked - that's the smart way to do things.
x2 to the OP, there are no stupid questions about chickens, especially for new chicken keepers. Keep asking anything you want!

There are a lot of really nice people on this site, everybody gets along when we all mind our manners......I think it's stupid to be overly paranoid and not realize that it's obviously poop on the eggs. And if you're saying that that is not stupid, well, you're really nice. Thank you.
I agree, because if you think about it, nobody is born knowing everything about chickens! Or anything else for that matter......x2 to the OP, there are no stupid questions about chickens, especially for new chicken keepers. Keep asking anything you want!
Does anyone else have a problem with the eggs "coming out that way?" Most of mine have a streak that looks as if they get streaked coming out of the chicken. I have checked their vents and it seems as if there is trace amounts of poo (sigh) on the small feathers immediately surrounding the vent. Is there a way to fix that? If it starts to form into a small clump the chicken is subjected to a bath, but I can't be bathing them everyday!

You could trim the feathers below the vent so poop doesn't hit them. Make sure their poop is of the healthy kind too.
Not every hens vent is "sparkling clean" when they lay especially if they have just pooped a cecal. It's really not a big deal. Poop happens!
