My Buff Orpington wanders the yard fluffed up and broody but she shows no interest in eating or drinking and her eggs are shell-less. I provide her with calcium and baked egg shells. I have caged her with minerals and food and fresh water. I dewormed her in the spring. Help?

If she is still laying, she is not broody. It sounds like she could have some kind of problem. Any other symptoms? Is she nearing molting time? How old is she?

She is 2. She's low on the pecking order but when I bring out the feed she is the only hen that just wanders away. When I approach her she lowers yourself as if she's ready to mate and I'm the rooster. FYI: My area doesn't allow roosters.
