I've been raising 2 quails indoors and both of them have finally started laying eggs from early this month(September) and they are pretry consistent on this. However, one of the quail is laying eggs without the shell and I'm not sure why.

I feed them the same food, same acv mixed water and I'm not sure what's causing one of the quails to lay eggs without shell. (The other one lays perfect eggs). Can someone pls advise.

I've attached se pics of the recent eggs that I got without shell.

That's usually caused by lack of calcium. Are you giving them calcium on the side? Crushed oyster or egg shell? If not, is your feed at around 3.5% calcium?

I give mine crushed oyster or egg shell (crushed into quail sized pieces) but they prefer the egg shell.

Yes, I'm adding chicken egg shells to the feed I provide them.. I mix 50gms of egg shells for every 1 Kilogram of feed (That's like 5%).Should I be adding more?

Also, the other quail is laying perfect eggs and I am feeding it the same feed with no changes whatsoever.

You could also try cuttlebone. Pedro didn't like the egg shells much, but she could devour a cuttlebone in no time while she was laying eggs. When she's not laying she doesn't peck at it at all, even tho I always leave one out for her.
