I was wondering if once you take the egg from the coop and leave it on counter for a week can you put the egg in the refrigerator?

Also do you need to collect the eggs right away? I have been taking them out each day, but was wondering if we were go on vacation do I need someone to come collect them each day, would they break them?

TIA

It is for safeties sake that you collect eggs and refrigerate them once or twice a day, though honestly eggs can remain good in a cool, dark area for a week or even longer (some people don't even refrigerate their eggs).
I usually toss out or feed to the dogs any eggs that are over a day or two old, as I can't be sure their exact age or if they were sat on by a hen long enough to begin developing, ect.

As for not collecting eggs during vacation, there is a very real risk of egg breakage, and trust me, egg-eaters are really obnoxious!! My chickens break and eat eggs and it is so messy and certainly leads to a lot of loss in eggs.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!
