I only wash eggs with something (poop or blood) stuck to them. Other than that I leave them alone and put them in the fridge. My husband sells our extras to coworkers so I like to keep them clean looking. 
FYI sometimes new laying pullets will have a little blood on the outside of their eggs from stretching/tearing. Freaked me out the first one I found and I thought there was something wrong with one of my girls.
