I have a 5 month ish Silkie who is laying and a Silkie rooster about 5-5months (was suppose to be a girl!!). We checked some eggs by cracking open and they are fertilised (have the little round mark on the yolk) - are they too young to produce chicks? We put 5 eggs in an incubator (stored them correctly and turned) but after 8 days nothing has happened - cancelling shows nothing. We cracked one open and definitely nothing growing but can clearly see it’s fertilised. She has since had 5 more eggs that we left in the coop to see if she will sit on them (not yet). Any feedback would be appreciated.

Unfortunately they weren't fertilized maybe the ones you cracked open were or mistaken to be . But yes these ones weren't but hey it was worth trying. With the other eggs if she's not laying on them I myself would definitely take them in try incubating again . When I incubated eggs in the past I never cracked them to see if they are fertilized I used the candeling method. Good luck .
