i have two quail and no idea what gender
there is also differen patterened and colored eggs
does one button quail lay a certain pattern or is the pattern different each time

Based on a sample size of two quail, the eggs have similar features but the spots are different. One of my hens laid cream eggs that were pointed on one end and had dark brown spots. One hen laid eggs that were bluish, more oval shaped, and had brown spots.

The spots differed egg to egg but I could tell which egg came from which hen.

some look like chocolate balls and some are like olive with light brown spots

Sorry, I can't help you on the button quail eggs. I had coturnix.
