In mid July of this year my wife, on her way home from work, found 2 chicks standing in the middle of the road. We assume they were escapees from a delivery to one of the local broiler farms. Well here it is 6 months later and we have 2 very large white hybrid hens (Patty and Selma). Yes I'm a Simpsons fan. Selma started laying the day after Christmas and we have gotten 15 eggs so far! More than I ever expected from a broiler.

Well Patty started laying this Monday 1/7. So far she has produced 3 XXXTRA large eggs. The first we thought may be a fluke but after 3 very large eggs I'm not sure. I know normal chickens eggs become larger as they lay more but if that is the case I'm going to need a bigger coop!

Below is a pic...the white eggs are extra large grade A store bought. The row behind them are Selma's most recent eggs and the back row is Patty's first 3...We cant close the lid on the carton! Dont know how many yolks. We will find out tomorrow at breakfast.
