So ive been researching and the Eglu looks like a decent coop. Does anyons have any experience with it? How well did it do with wind and predators? How about how well it stays warm in teen weather? I can get 40 mph winds here in Connecticut. Dont want it flying away. Might get this coop so your help will helelp me decide. Thank you!

Hi! I have been keeping my three bantams in an Eglu Go for about six months now, and it's been working out nicely for me. The coop is very easy to clean, and no signs of predators breaking in.
How many chickens are you planning to keep? Lighter breeds and bantams are probably more suited to the coops.

I have the eglu go up with a 2m run. I was keeping 4 bantams in it and they had room to re-arrange themselves. Worth noting 2 of them were Serama's, so about as small as you can get, and they were with a Pekin and Silkie bantam. If all were Pekins I wouldn't have kept more than 3 in there. I do love mine though, so easy to clean with a pressure washer. I do a 'spring clean' a few times a year where I take it apart to give the insulation/ventilation part a good blast too. One downside with the eglu go is that there's not a way of stopping the chickens from sleeping on the nest box. Mine go through phases of preferring to sleep in there than on the roosting bars. The feeders that come with the coops aren't great if you have bantam as they can't reach the bottom of the feeder, so I'm topping mine up a lot more just so they can reach the feed. The colour on the plastic coop does start to fade after 1-2 years.

As for predators, I've not aware I've had any try and get in. I saw a video on youtube that someone posted from home security footage of a fox trying to get in and it couldn't figure out how. That said, I would be more comfortable if the skirting was wider, just for extra peace of mind.

They are sturdy. I had storm this year that destroyed my fence on both sides but the coop and run where untouched, or moved.

They are a bit on the expensive side, but if you want an easy no fuss coop that will keep your birds dry and safe it's worth it. If you can afford, and have the space, I'd suggest getting the walk in run. I've spent way to much time crawling around in the 2 meter run when sorting out feed or flooring, there's not much room in there for a human.

I also live in CT and just ordered the Eglu Cube and walk in run. I'm planning some extra predator proofing. Did you get the Eglu?
Yes, I just received it and it took 4 hours to out together. So far they have been sleeping in it for 2 days. Hoping they adjust soon. They were so good at sleeping in their own in old coop now they gotta do same for this 1. Researching on how to keep coop bug free. So far Sevin works for inside coop. Will be using thyme as well. Yiu will love your new coop! Enjoy!

Do they have bugs?
Using insecticide as a 'preventative' can create resistance.
Better to do regular exams and only use chemicals if you see bugs.

Have you checked them over real well for mites and/or lice?

Google images of lice/mites and their eggs before the inspection so you'll know what you're looking for.

Part the feathers right down to the skin around vent, head/neck and under wings.

Best done well after dark with a strong flashlight/headlight, easier to 'catch' bird and also to check for the mites that live in structure and only come out at night to feed off roosting birds.

Wipe a white paper towel along the underside of roost to look for red smears(smashed well fed mites).

Thank you! I believe my girls are good. Just want to prevent an infestation in my coop since it's a new coop and all. My old coop was wood and I used DE mixed with sand for easy cleaning and for 2 or 3 months never saw any bugs in their coop. Did spot 1 spider. I gave them ivermectin and next dose in October. It's all for prevention. I know I can clean my omlett with water so that will help. Not sure how I'll clean it during winter.

I have 5. I got the cube omlett coop. It's been working great.
