Egyptian Goose Breeding Question

I have the opportunity to get a supposed "pair" of Egyptian geese. But apparently they have been "fighting" or mating so bad that one has had all of the feathers pulled out of the back of it's head. Is this typical mating behavior? Would they be mating this time of year? My American geese are laying, but not my Cotton Patch. So I'm unsure whether I should expect eggs (to know for sure whether its two males or a pair). Any ideas?
