I find many of my girls sit or even perch in the evenings with their mouth open. They aren’t necessarily panting—sometimes they pant, but not always. Is this normal? They get fresh water every day. Their poop is great ((lol)). They run and play and forage. All is perfectly normal. It’s only 75-81 degrees in Louisiana right now? Sorry if the photo is blurry. View attachment 1373953

I heard When it's hot they like to get their feet wet to cool off.... not sure if that's right but then again I have seen my own chickens do this ..

Yup once the temperature gets around here hits above about 75-80° my chickens pant like to hold their wings out away from their body. Almost seems like they handle cold better than hot. Just make sure they’ve got shade they can go to. The first summer I had chickens I was a little worried at firsT but apparently it’s normal
