El Cajon, San Diego- are chickens allowed yet?!?!

Hello,

My husband and I are hoping to buy a home this year and one thing that is on our wish list is the ability to own chickens!! Does anyone know if El Cajon allows backyard chickens currently? I know that as of April 2012, they did not. My husband has to commute to Coronado everyday, so areas like Ramona are out of the question unfortunately. We'd love to live in Lakeside but I am wondering about El Cajon.

If anyone knows any info about this that would be great!

I put a few coops in the backyards in El Cajon & Lakeside both. I don't know city codes for El Cajon But there are lots of feeds stores & chickens in east county.
