Whoever posted a while back about using an electric air purifier in your chick room to keep down dust and smell is simply amazing and i thank you. My chicks are almost 2 weeks old and still in my bedroom due to taking a little longer then expected to build their outdoor brooder. Even cleaning everyday the dust and smell was still accumulating. It never crossed my mind to still the purifier out of the living room and stick it next to the chicks! Well i did and we are on day three and the smell is very faint and the dust is not accumulating anymore. So anybody experiencing this problem go out and get yourselves one of these bad boys!

Just for the record, IT WAS NOT ME POSTING:frow
I have a Sharper Image one. It attracts the dust particles statically.
With your heavier than usual load of chick dust ,,,, check and clean buildup.
Other Air purifiers would also do a satisfactory job as well. Drawback with them is the price of the filters. Heavy chick dust would clog those faster than usual service. $100 filter is not CHUMP CHANGE.
My Sharper Image unit, is EZ to clean.:thumbsup
WISHING YOU BEST.......................... :highfive:

Well thank you so much for posting! I wish I would have found it sooner. Only after 2 weeks a huge buildup of dust built up. Since starting the air purifier hardly any has built up, the smell is lighter, and the room is staying a little cooler!

how long do the filters last?
The electronic purifiers you simply pull out the electrode plates and clean/wipe with a soft cloth.
The HEPA filters have pre-filter carbon sponge layer. Those can be rinsed. The actual HEPA cartridge will vary with how much dust it it traps. One of mine has an indicator light that shows it is clogged. Not sure if all, or most have that feature.

Mine has a sensor indicating when it is getting close to change and when it is time to change. It also has a sensor for when it senses stuff in the air and such. I have been running mine for 3 weeks now and it is still going strong. I have moved all my babies to an outdoor brooder and now left with my 4 heatlamps (ducklings) lol and it is saying the air is clean most of the time.

What model do you have? I'm very interested in buying one for my chick room.

I just bought a Honeywell air filter last week. We have a wood stove and get a lot of gritty dust from it. $160, and the filters are supposed to be cleanable. I don't have any chicks inside, but hubby says it's helping with his sinus problems.

They discontinued this model that I have. It used to be available, on Amazon, but no longer. It was silent. The model Sharper Image is selling, has fans inside. It is also pricey.
Pix below is what I have.
