You may have thus far avoided sad accidents with this, but I would like to suggest that this is probably NOT a good idea for other people to do. There is no value to it and it makes the fence a lot more dangerous to pets, livestock, and people -- who YES, CAN get injured or killed in various ways in electric fences, especially if you do things like that.
JMHO,
Pat, big fan of electric fences used *properly*, not a big fan of having a gratuitous electrocution risk in the backyard
Just wanted to clarify that this is a pulsed fencer. Though it will hurt, it will not harm. It is much safer than a 2000volt continuous fencer. It has not killed any small wildlife and has deterred numerous threats.
I've observed long haired animals and electric fences, and the lower voltage fencers doesn't seem to deter them for long. A fox with kits will eventually compromise the lesser to feed her young. I had trouble with a bobcat snooping around a few years ago and it took 8000volts to even get his attention, haven't seen him since.
