When I took Jax out last night I smelled (what I thought was) a strong electrical smell, like something electrical was burning. Jax was real antsy too and that heightened my curiosity and fear. I'm scared of fire. So there I was at 11 o'clock at night in 25 degree weather checking all the outbuildings (we have lights burning in the buildings that have water sources to keep the pipes from freezing), checked the harley shed because it has a battery minder on it, sniffed around the heat pump, everywhere. I couldn't locate the source of the smell. Every time I'd call Jax back in the house he'd want right back out again, so I was sure he was smelling it too.
I finally called DH at work and told him to be sure and roll his car window down when he got on the farm road to see if he could locate the source of the smell. So, DH gets home and I said "so do you smell it? What is it?" When he finished laughing he told me what the smell was.
A skunk. I've smelled them long after they were dead on the road, but apparently to my nose they smell alot different when they are alive and ticked off.
