Hi all,
I know there are already a lot of threads on this subject, but I didn't find one that answered this very very basic question: WHEN do you actually call the electrician? I suppose he would tell me if I would call..
We are in the process of building the coop. We have the fundations down. I suppose we want the electricity to come in when we have the walls up but the insulation NOT setup yet?
I hope to make is a secure as possible. There is already an electrical line going to the coop (was there for a previous shed with lights). I am thinking that I am OK to have two lights on that cord, as it is what it held in the shed. It is on its on breaker (but in the house, no separate electrical box for the coop).
I will cover the lights with cages. The lights will not be held only by the cord. Only regular light bulbs hopefully, I don't think I will need a heat lamp. I will not store hay or feed in the coop.
My only other concern comes from a post where someone was mentionning mice eating the electrical cord inside the walls! Well.. we sometimes have mice in our house as well, I don't think we protect the electricity in our walls against mice. So I am not sure, should I put the wiring in a PCV pipe for the coop? It will be inside the insulated wall, but some mice could possibly make it in the walls eventually..
Thanks. (most my info was read on this post, pretty good to sumarize it all):
