Electrolytes

We just got our first chicks today, and the folks at the feed store gave us a package of electrolytes to mix in their water. How long do we give them those electrolytes? Is it until they are off the heat?

Technically they are not necessary at all as long as chicks are active, eating and drinking. I do use them for a day or two when I have chicks shipped to me since they usually arrive tired and a little stressed. It does really perk them up. If chicks are acting fine I don't bother with it.

That's just fine. It won't hurt them at all to have them for a week.
Think of it as Gatorade for an athlete which has just finished a workout.
It just gives them more good things in their diet.
