hasn't gone broody yet. She lays eggs regularly, usually 4 eggs a week.

Any guesses on when the broody bug will hit her?

My silkie is not even a year old, and has already gone broody twice

Yeah I do Happy. The thing is, I'm going Thursday afternoon to purchase chicks for my SF that I'm sure is going to have a poor hatch (MAYBE one chick). I figured if time was near for Ellie Mae, I'd stock up.

I want to get Doe (the SF I'm going to buy chicks for) off the nest asap. This is her second time being broody in 3 months and she's starting to look a little rough around the edges. Hopefully with a good sized clutch to raise she'll give the broodiness a break.

Maybe Ellie Mae is perfectly happy and fulfilled in her life, and isn't buying into the concept that she NEEDS chicks to lead a happy and fulfilled life. Maybe she's off on the chicken internet, posting about how she's child-er chick free, and how happy she is, and she wishes people would quit pressuring her to have offspring...

Maybe so. Ellie always has danced to her own tune, but I blamed that on her being a silkie.
