Elphaba, my first broody with her first chicks!

My Silchin girl, Elphaba went truly broody (a false start earlier this year), so I gave her 3 eggs that had just started growing in the incubator. Yesterday she hatched these two cuties.



The chipmunk quickly scurried back under mom and Elphaba gave me that warning look...


Then some of the other ladies came by to check out the new chicks in town...

Awww... How sweet. I love it when hens go broody, because it makes it much easier to add to the flock than raising the chicks yourself.
