I have brought the ELYE-1 Egg Incubator takes 88 eggs Has anyone else got one of these and can help me out with humidity please. The manual doesn't tell you a lot, i have had to search on line and i'm a little confused as to what humidity i should have it at.
When i first turned it on, i put a tablespoon of water on the tray at the bottom this spread and i had humidity ranging from 40 to 60 i read yesterday on line that the humidity increase's with the area of water and not the volume, ie. a narrow glass full of water will give me a humidity of around 46 i have just put in a wider rimmed glass and already the humidity is climbing and is at 48, i would expect it to climb to somewhere between 50 to 60.
The incubator is designed for continous use, no apparent lock down. My immediate problem is, i have 2 eggs in there that were under my hen, she gathered them in while she was sitting on others, the others have hatched, so i took these eggs off her, i'm not sure how old they are, but i think they maybe at day 18 today, they could be older. One has a very large air sack, the other not as big. But both are solid and i can't see enough to tell more, they are dark brown eggs, and my eyes are not as good as they were, even with glasses. I have 17 other eggs in the incubator that i started off 5 days ago, all look good, but i have also been adding more eggs each day as they say i can.
So what humidity should i have the incubator at?, seeing as i'm doing two things at once, ie incubating up to day 18 and trying to hatch after day 18.
I have put these two in the bottom of the hatching tray and put them in little paper baskets i made, as i saw another member do. but i have propped them against each other, should i just ly them down like they do in the nest, i'm worried about the egg that doesn't have the bigger air sack and drowning, would propping it up help stop it from drowning if its not got rid of enough moisture or should i put it back on the rack which tips 45 degrees side to side, for another day or two?
