I have a Embden goose and a Chinese goose.How do I tell which is male or female.

You can't tell the sex of the Embden without vent sexing. If they are adults a better shot of the Chinese's knob will help us determine the sex

I was thinking if they are close to mating age that would deff tell the difference.

My Chinese start around February and are done by the end of Summer

Lemme take a shot at this. The males will be a lot more errect than the females. They will also hold their tails pointed upward moreso than the females. Kinda hard to tell without more than one sex to compare, but look up some pictures and you will see what I mean. Good luck.........Pop

Your Chinese goose looks female, but you would need to vent sex to be sure. If one is more protective over the other, the protective one is your gander and the other your goose. If they are sexually mature, the gander should be displaying his protective behavior now.
