Dennis took the saddle pad from the bratty stallion, setting it gently onto his back. He then set the saddle next to Spirit's face so he could again observe what was going onto him.

He set it onto his back, then attaching the cinch. Dennis untied the lead rope and lead Spirit to a round pen where he stood in the center and made him walk along the edge. No matter how stubborn and obnoxious the stallion was, he was going to break him. No matter what.
