I spotted a non moving embryo while candling and I’m wondering if it’s dead. The veins still look red and are visible but is it possible that an embryo can stay still even while being candled? If Another thing, I had accidentally cracked this egg too so could that have something to do with it?

The crack can let bacteria in. If it's not too bad, you can melt wax from a candle or even a coloring crayon and lightly cover the crack. Some I've heard used clear nail polish.

Embryos usually can be seen moving slightly, but if I don't see it, yet see veins and no blood ring, I put an X on it in pencil, put it back in the incubator, and check a week or so later.

Okay so I actually sealed the crack already and it’s been alive for a while but now there’s no more veins and a big black spot where I think it could have bacteria so I took it out.
