Just though I would pass on an interesting happening. I have had company here for the last 10 days from all over the place. One result was that I was not collectings eggs regularly, including those from my sebright breedeing cage. I would set the egg on top of the cage every other day, feed and water the birds, and then leave. We have also had record heat and humidity here with daytime highs between 95-100 and lows in the 70's for about 4 days. The heat finally broke a few days ago and our temps went back to highs in the 80's and the low temps were anywhere from 49-55. Two days ago I decided to throw the sebright eggs that had been setting on top of their cage for the last 8-9 days into the incubator just for the heck of it. I candled yesterday (24 hours later) and amazingly the eggs had about 3-4 days worth of development going on inside. I figured that the temps had been warm enough for a few days to start the development but the temps fluctuated A LOT up and down from day to night and still the little buggers kept going. Obviously, they did not have any problem with lows around 50 and highs around 85 for about 4 days!

I was talking to Dave Holderread about this same thing. He was telling me how he had experience with eggs very similar to this situation.

That means there's still hope for mine!!!! Thanks for passing that on!!

am glad to hear that story. my temps had been like a yo-yo. i candled for the first time and out of 12 i know 4 are good. some i'm not for sure about and some clear. but as long as i can get 1 to hatch i'm happy.
