Emergency bird formula?

Actually starting to think this little dude is a ground dove or inca dove. I've raised a few mourning doves and they are about double this size. He's so, so tiny. Getting feathers really fast though and eating like a champ!

Dove and pigeon squabs are so hard to tell apart (species/breed) this little so I guess it's a waiting game! 😅
Keep the updates coming ... And more pics if you would be so kind. TKS. :)

Just fed him so snapped a few quick pictures for you. Excuse the mess, he is crazy when it comes to food 😅.

Amazing how quickly these guys grow. Every time I raise them I can't believe how fast it flies by. He's already almost completely covered in feathers/quills now.

Some more pics today! Excuse the formula on his wing and beak. I just fed him and took these while I was cleaning him up 😅.

He's definitely looking more like an inca dove. Got the red coming in bright on both wings! It is invasive here in Florida, so not sure on release plans. But we'll see!

So cute!
I googled inca dove image and found sand colored birds with dark edging on the feathers giving the appearance of scales. Not seeing the red ... ??

Oh, I took a picture on the bottom there of his wing. It looks lighter here for some reason 😵. But yeah the colors are confusing me. The mourning doves I've raised before never got this much coloration on their wings. Usually it's just muted browns and some black.

I see the red in your pic but not in the image of an inca dove I found online. Are you convinced it's an inca? I have no experience of these smaller dove species. We do have mourning doves in WI though. :)

Nah not convinced of anything 😅. Like I said before doves and pigeons are pretty hard to nail down species wise until they get actually fully feathered. I just like guessing 😁.
