Emergency, broken wing question? Quick response if possible!!!

Update on my hen.....I could not find anyone around to help me, also discovered her other wing was broken, also found out what had happened to her, she was hit on the road by a motorcycle.

I called some rehabbers none where able to help. So I gathered my knowledge of veterinary medicine and looked up some bandaging procedures. For days now I have been soaking the chicken in a warm bath to remove any dirt or debris from the wound, and scrubbing the wound to remove dead skin, and with tweezers removing dead skin, I had to cut the bone so it would be under the skin then I have been applying Silver sulfadiazine cream and bacitracin, the wound is healing and as far as I can tell the infection is going away no smell, the edges are healing nicely. I also have been giving her 1/4cc of penicillin directly into the wing. I set the other wing and today was the first day I wrapped the other wing I have been letting it have air.

Best of luck, no advise on broken wings, I only have had broken legs. Set & vet wrapped them, isolation in a sick box/cage to remain calm, all have survived. It just takes time and monitoring of the wounds. Sounds like you are on the right track tho.

A friend of ours stopped by last sunday and told us that a friend of his told him they hit one of our chickens on his motorcycle a few days earlier. I realized I wasn't missing any so that must have been what happened to her.
