Emergency end of term incubating!

You can post a pic of the eggs too if you want. Are any yawning? You might want to read the link in my signature, just in case.
Not sure what yawning is and new to the format here so haven’t found your article yet 😬

i was able to put it back together! Plugged it in. How long till the plastic smell fades?
Awesome!!! It takes a little while, since it's new. It's not harmful though. šŸ‘

Oh, it's ok! So if you're in a phone, turn it sideways while you're reading this. Under the last line of my post is my "signature". There's an article link there that you can click on and read. It's just about assisting a hatch if necessary.
And to post pics, hit the "attach files" button and upload any pics you want.

Yawning is just what the motion looks like, if you look at your unhatched chick, you might be able to see it "yawning". That means it is still absorbing yolk, so it's not ready to hatch yet.

perfect advice- see it, and read it the other day and saved my other chick!!
Saw there was a pip in the morning, came home and hen was off eggs and it was stone cold, but I heard a peep! Your advice helped me and the chick is doing great!!
(Also had her in my bra to warm up 😜)

The egg looks like it's getting a bit dry.
Also, if the rag under them is wet, it will chill them and actually draws moisture out of the egg. Put them on a dry towel, and for humidity get a dish, and a rag. Get the rag soaking wet in hot water, and put it in the dish. Then sit that in the cooler next to the eggs.
Do you have a lid on the cooler?
If so make sure there's plenty of ventilation.

Awww! She's so cute! I'm glad you were able to save her!!!

it does seem like it’s getting a little dry, I put some oil on it. The eggs are on a dry towel, wetting the one behind it. No lid, just the brooder thing.
I just fixed the broken NR360, and have it heating up, maybe I just transfer the eggs to it?

these are going to be some interesting looking chickens! Half Swedish black hen half silkie! I think the one I helped hatch might be half australorp- she has feathered feet and an extra toe!!

That's good. šŸ‘
Wait to transfer the eggs until you're 100% sure the incubator is at the right temp. Test the temp with a separate thermometer.

Awesome!!!
Any chicks with extra toes are probably part silkie.
