**EMERGENCY*** **IMPACTED CROP****

Hi, our 10 week old Barred Rock pullet is not acting like herself. She usually comes right to me and lets me hold her, and she usually bosses around the other pullets, but she hasn't been doing that today. We found out that she has an impacted crop. She is asleep with the other chickens in the coop right now, but tomorrow at the crack of dawn we are going to put some grit in there coop to help her digest. Is there anything I need to know?!!?! We are new to chicken keeping.

I had one of my chickens do that once, making a weird gurgling sound kinda andtrying to swallow. We found her dead the next morning we lost a few other chickens that week also. We suspected some disease possibly.

Grit is important for when they are eating grasses and bugs outside. They will usually get enough on their own, but I always keep it out in a coffee can for them if they need it.
