I came home today to find my 4 week ld guinea keep lying on her side panting and HOT, will not accept water on her own or food.

She was fine when I left, but her cage/pen was HOT when we returned. She had water with ACV in it, and nothing funny about her food, or waste.

Non medicated 20% starter, ACV in her water. Nobody else sick in the pen, but all were panting.

SO FAR I have bathed her in lukewarm waater (with not a single ounce of fight about it) and dripped water into and on top of her beak.

She is no longer hot, but still panting like before.

I am giving her syringe (minus needle) with acv water and honey in it every 10-fifteen minutes.

Anyone else help please? She is my only guinea!

I think you are covering all of your bases. I would keep giving her the lukewarm baths and give her time to recover. Keep her out of the heat!

She just shuddered, passed a little bit of stool, and is dead. All within fifteen minutes of treatment.

We had only been gone from the house two hours. Cage & pen not in direct sunlight or anything.

Thank-you for your help.

I'm so so sorry for you r loss....I hope you can be able to tell somehow what has caused this...

Take care and I'm praying for you.

Oh that is a shame! Makes me wonder if it wasn't something else, you know? They are African birds, used to dry heat, and it wasn't in direct sun...could she have eaten something where her cage was? Was it well-ventilated?

Sorry that you lost her.
