Empty nest?

No, he is in his second year at the local community college. He hates helping out around the yard and grumbles about it every weekend.

Well, the local community colleges are even worse!

I went to public school and then graduated from a community college. I immediately got a great job that started at $35.00 an hour. Don't knock the community colleges, education is what you make of it.

I also think the parents have a greater influence than any school their children go to. You went to a community college, got a great job, became independent, and I bet you parents instilled that in you. BTW I went to a community college instead of an out of state one because it was the only college close enough to home that had what I wanted to study and was close enough that I could stay at home and help take care of my mother.

I had excellent teachers, and thrived there, though I do wish I gotten a chance to expand on that.

Exactly! :-) Besides, it is never too late to expand on your education. My Grandma just got a degree a few years ago.

I will, one day, for the time being I'm focused on the home, the property, and my family.

Just because they leave the nest doesn't mean they leave your checkbook, credit card, cell phone bill, cash, co-sign..................

I will do the happy dance when the day comes as long as it is on good terms. I don't want her out of my life, just out of my home. Two adult women living in one place is one too many.

Oh yes it does, and they were well aware of that. Our kids worked from the time they started high school. We paid for 3/4 of their college. They were expected to pay for the rest either through savings or scholarships. Nobody gets somethin' for nothin'. Responsibility is taught. Have we helped out, and would we do so again if necessary? Heck yes, but our kids are good solid hard working people. Yeah, I'm proud of how they turned out!

No you are not confused. Long story but when we told Sara to leave she took Robert back to his mother, wouldn't tell us where she was moving too and told her dad she never wanted to talk to him again.

I am so sorry, both for you AND Robert.

Hugs many times over!
