Hi all! I guess I'm what y'all would call an 'empty nester'. lol. Both my kids moved away due to military: my son is a Marine and my daughter married Navy, so I (the mom) needed something to occupy my time constructively. This year I've done the raised garden and grow boxes (21 fruits and veggies) and next year I've decided to have a small coop and run with 4 chickens. Raising chickens is vastly different than jumping in and planting some veggies, so I figured I'd spend a year learning all I can before actually starting the process...so here I am. I look forward to gathering all the info I'll need to be successful in raising chickens.

You will absolutely love raising chickens....It is interesting and rewarding. (Plus you'll love the birds.) I started only a few months ago, wanted four. I'm already up to nine! Everything you need to know is somewhere on this site, and if it's not - someone is always glad to help you. Good luck, so glad you joined. Let us know when your chicks arrive!
