So at first this wasnt noticeable, but my chick is about 2 weeks old now and ive noticed that one of the leg is sort out in an angle, like the foot is pointing outwards.
Now we dont have any vet in the area that knows how to deal with this. Is there anything we can do at home to prevent this problem? We do have D vitamin powder for reptiles that ive put in the food and a big variety of food. It has started to eat grass outside.
Or will this only get worse?

I am currently having the same problem with my 4 week old guy, his left foot is turned out at least 90 degrees, he walks and runs and is otherwise healthy but I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. We think he may have a torn ligament or something due to slipping when I had him on the kitchen floor, I just feel awful about it.

Yeah mine is similiar maybe not that severe but he is isnt 4 weeks yet so i guess it will turn worse. Have no clue on what to do :( Would be nice if you could update what the vet told you here :)

Its maybe hard to tell but the knee it sort of pointing inwards, not straight. Not really sure if taping the legs would straighten it out. Anyone knows if anything can be done?

Definitely keep him off slippery surfaces, I believe its not from the knee, it seems to be up in the front of his hip. I will let you know this evening what my vet says, he has dealt with Emus before which is a good thing.

My 4 week old has the same thing. It looks almost identical to yours Gaiser Ranch. She is the same, looks very healthy but her right leg is completely twisted sideways. She walks almost with a "peg leg" limp. She has only slipped once or twice (it was on puppy pads when when was little. Her brooder is carpetted so i dont think it is from injury, it just started to twist one day and is getting progressively worse.
Will you please let me know what your vet says.

So I went to my vet, he gave me a few options, he said if it was a commercial emu he would cull it, but since it is a pet....1. send me to a specialist who does nothing but birds, etc...2. break the leg and reset it and cast it.....3. leave it be and he will adapt to it. I think I will leave it be for now, with all the above mentioned about surgery it is not 100% guaranteed he will be fixed properly, and with the possibility of infection I have opted to leave him be, he is perfectly healthy right now, he can run, walk, does funny twists, I just cant see risking it all. The vet seems to think he will be ok, my issue was with the weight gain and ruining the good leg, but as the vet pointed out, he stands on both legs and the muscles are developing appropriately.

Thank you so much for letting us know. We are also hoping that if we leave her be then she will be ok. I can't imagine her leg getting better, but I really hope that she will grow to adulthood and be able to lead a good life as a pet.

Yeah same here then i leave it be :) Mine also can run and eat heatly at the moment even though it only 1 week. But i guess as long as an emu can run and eat its an happy emu :)
