So cool! Geese are a pain to sex for sure, haha. You betcha. I've already stripped the lining out to dry and have the bags labeled! I'll send them after D gets busy. Also, have a random Sebbie who may be a male in disguise that will go for a feather test as well!
Oh wow that would be so fun! Fingers crossed it is!!!Thanks! I hope this last baby in this hatch is white. How perfect would that be?! One of each!
That would have been fun if it didn't stink so badBummer. If it wasn't fertile, you could have had the world's largest omelet!
I obviously can't help you there, but interested in hearing the answer. Seems like waiting for wiggles is really the only sure way to know.Does anyone know , how much the temperature difference is between the front and the end of the egg when the embryo is developing well.
Thanks in advance![]()
I really have no clue other than once they're past day 35 if you leave them out for about 5 minutes a developing egg will feel warmer on one end and the air cell will cool off. It is always hard to tell though.Does anyone know , how much the temperature difference is between the front and the end of the egg when the embryo is developing well.
Thanks in advance![]()
If it were mine I think I'd start assisting. Obviously I haven't done emus, but if it were any other bird I would for sure. I'd just do a dime sized hole in the air cell and see what's going on. Could be malpositioned. I hate losing babies so late so if I think there's a problem I almost always help.Still waiting on baby d. It's still wiggling and it sounds like it's internally pipped but I haven't heard any whistling. I sure hope everything's okay in there and this baby gets out. Today is day 54 which is still within the hatching time frame but it seems odd that the other two are already out and they were all set at the same time. It was the larger egg in terms of weight so who knows if that has anything to do with it.
I had to make a little hobble for baby C this morning as its legs were a little more splayed than I'd like to see. It's on appropriate flooring towels over carpet so it's not a slippery surface. Hopefully it will be corrected quickly.View attachment 4048554
