I have 2 questions I really need answers for. First does anyone use wood fencing for their emus? I have a 6 foot high wood fenced area that I was thinking about transfering them to.
Second I have 3 four month old emus and I can't get ratite food in my area so I have been feeding chick starter. I have heard that I should feed them this up until they are 6 months and I also heard up until they are a year. Does anyone which one is right?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I've been mixing chicken layer pellets and rabbit pellets with chick starter, it comes out looking like this compared to the Mazuri feed:

To do something like this take the nutritional value of each feed and average it, this gives you the nutritional value of the mixture.
Plain chick starter isn't all that great for them but my Emu has been thriving on this mixture. Most important is they get the vitamins they need, plenty of calcium and just enough but not too much protein.
