You did a great job...something most of us are unable/too afraid to do. Its all a learning process...if you decide to do it again...i'm behind you 100%! LOL, might even buy you an egg.
It sounds like most of you have heard that we lost the last egg.
When I got home from work yesterday on day 56 I did another float test. It didn't move at all. I opened the fat end of the egg and peeked in and there was no movement. I then felt the the chick to confirm he was gone and he was. It looked like he developed normal but who realy knows.
We are going to give it another shot starting next week. I got four first year eggs from a local guy. I think I'm going to hand turn this time. All of the comercial turner look like they turn the egg 180 deg rather than the 90 deg my turner was doing.
My boys were pretty bummed about not having emu chicks but they seemed to get over it pretty quick. We looked at some chickens on the web last night. I told them that we may be getting some of their eggs and reminded them the they will only take 21 days to hatch. So we fired up the other incubator to get it ready for eggs next week.
Thank you all for checking out the video stream. We had over 2,000 people view my eggs on Ustream. It was great to log on see that I wasn't the only one staring at these eggs all the time.
Also thank you all for your kind words when we found out the second egg didn't make it.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, and allowing it to become our experience as well. We all learned a lot. We'll be waiting for the next time the emu cam fires up!
