It would be awesome to see one of those! I’m sure people have tried to create a miniature emu, but I haven’t seen any so far.

Wait, are there any purposely bred dwarfed birds? WOW, duh! Bantams. Stupid me. Yes, I typed that sentence out then realized how dumb that question was.

Then it should be possible?

It appears that some species restricted to smaller environs evolve to a smaller size due to fewer resources.
Case in point: Key deer of the Florida Keys.
Pygmy Sloth of Isla Escudo de Veraguas off the coast of Panama.
Cozumel island with dwarf coati, dwarf fox and the Cozumel island raccoon.
The Mindoro Dwarf Buffalo in the Philippines.
The Bali Tiger and the Channel islands fox, smaller than a house cat.
There are other extinct examples. Bernissartia were tiny Crocodiles, Balaeric Island cave goat that was under 20 inches, dwarf elephants of Crete and Cyprus, Channel islands pygmy mammoth, Little People of Flores in Indonesia were under 3 feet tall.

It is called insular dwarfism of species with much larger relatives that are located on lands with more extensive resources adapting to less food and water availability.

The remaining 5 eggs have quite the lean going on... Made it to day 27. Curious what tomorrow’s weigh in will be. 2 of the eggs haven’t lost nearly enough weight.

Has anyone who has hatched emus before had to scrape some of the pigment off the shell? One egg is 10+ grams over weight and hasn’t lost nearly enough at every weigh in. Can’t separate it, so wondering if I should assist in the moisture loss.

Nothing 🙄 Funny you ask! I just walked out of the spare room after 10 minutes of trying to get any of the 5 eggs to wiggle.
Ugh. I checked the sound you asked about. They all sound the same. Not helpful, sorry.

A isn’t moving, and it cools down after a few minutes. I’m sure it hasn’t developed.there is a distinct warm spot on the developers. Not necessarily right at the end of the egg.

Also, if I tilt the eggs back and forth, lengthwise, you can tell a difference. A-the weight moves back and forth across a lot of the egg. B/C/D- the weight moves, but it is pretty centralized, if that makes any sense.

I am on pins and needles waiting for your eggs to wiggle. Tell them to get to it! Lol. Well, I’ll be in the sugar shack all day with no internet. I’ll check in tonight to see if there is any action!
