just picked up an emu from our local auction barn, looking into worming options for him or her it makes booming/rumbling noises when it sees me and also has some feather loss at the very end of its tail/cloaca area thanks

All of a sudden I can't remember if it is the females that BOOM, or the male. Females lay the eggs BUT, males sit on them. So it works our pretty good for the girls.

If you go to "Other backyard poultry in the forum, you will find EMU threads. Just post your questions there.

Quite a few chicken people also have emus for the novelty effect I think. One is The Sheriff (user name) on "Stella's Social Club," if you put that in the search box you should find it. You are welcome to ask emu questions there. Currently the Sheriff has two emu eggs but, they are possibily infertile because the male doesn't seem to be taking advantage of co-ed pastures.

I don't know anything about Emu's, but if you do as Drumstick Diva has suggested and search thru the archives here on BYC, there are lots of threads on Emu's.

Good luck and enjoy BYC!
