Emu marketing ??

Hi guys, I have been thinking about getting an emu or two. They will basically be pets but as other birds I have, I know I could find myself with quiet a few down the road . The main thing I would like to know is that if I start getting alot of eggs or raising a lot of emu where do you sell them. I'm sure I could get rid of the occasional emu or probably several of the eggs to people locally at swap meets and flea markets and such. I just wouldn't want to get stuck with a bunch of these giants. Say you raised about 25 a year where would you get rid of them. Is there anywhere like say a livestock yard where you can sell them in numbers at a decent price? What even is a good price for a chick, six month, or one year old bird?
I have done research on the net but can't come up with anything. The main reason is that emu farming must be very big in india and when you search, the links are dominated by links from india, which are no good trying to find info here in the US.
I see alot of products made from emu and alot of farms that even sell emu products but I am sure they are not processing the emu into the products their selves for the most part. Where do the companies that make these products get the emu from?
I would love to have some of these birds but I would like it if they could help contribute to the feed bill.

I believe the easiest and cheapest way would be to get a pair or so and sell the eggs either for hatching, crafts, eating or all of the above. When you start raising them and selling chicks is were it gets difficult. Not everyone wants them as pets, but if you are ok with raising them as livestock, meat , feathers etc... then their will be people to sell to. Also you could take prepaid orders if you wanted to hatch any, that way they already have a home before they hatch and you know where they are going and won't lose money. I use mine as pets and livestock guardians... as well as property guardians..... hehe, plus they are just plain out goofy and fun.

Hi chickenzoo, just wanted to say that we love you "zoo" and would love to have the same animals as you. lol I do have a question on our post of you Emus as property guardians. Do you keep them in pens or are they allowed to run free? Are they in pens with animals that you want to protect?

Sorry for this, pet owners. Emu fat is sought after you can sell it commercially for $15 - $18 a pound (about 22 lbs per bird) and the meat is easy to get rid of. I process many emus a year, last year sold over 200 chicks... Emus are contagious, so be careful.

Check with raw feeders in your area. There used to be a supplier here, but it seems to have dried up. I know a lot of people on the local raw feeding list would like to find emu. I never got to try it with my dogs, but depending on cost, I would.
